What will our future look like? How our world will be a century from now?

I recently read an answer to a question similar to the above and one of the answers was really interesting. The person talked about how our future will look like in a Sci-Fi Movie way where we have flying cars, food which is 3D printed and only containing nutrients which one needs for his daily routine (not tasty though, so I might want to pass that one, Lol), jobs in robotic factories, robots in every households instead of human helpers, etc. etc. I too was so engrossed in the answer that I started imagining a world similar to that.

Also I recently watched a series called Upload, which actually pictured the imagination. They had driverless cars, 3D printed food and also an eternal life in the form of a virtual heaven. *Smily with heart eyes* The funny part was you can choose which virtual heaven you want to stay in for your afterlife, you can literally go shopping for it *ROFL*, I am not going to go in the story of the series but it was fun to watch and it kept me thinking.

But, after thinking too much about that something struck me hard. Something which all the above answers may have overlooked. Something really disturbing yet coinciding with the current scenario and may be truly representing the actual events which may occur in our future.

It was that time I really felt something is not right in all the above predictions. Why all the visions are all glowy and flowery where the way we are disturbing our environment, the way we are spoiling our oceans, the way we are polluting each and every thing in our hand (air, soil, water, everything) our future will not really be the way we are thinking.

No magic wand or genie is going to appear suddenly and is going to make the millions of tons of plastic we are throwing in ocean and soil disappear or is going to cleans the air from all the pollutants we are restlessly emitting day by day or is going to fill that hole of ozone which will eventually sooner or later start giving us all skin cancer or going to remove the tremendous amount of plastic and non-decomposable and also the radio active waste we are dumping in the soil day by day.

So, here is my version of future which is close to the acts which we are doing right now. Here is how it goes.

It is a year 3020, I am living in a sealed bunker which is made by digging deep and large holes inside the earth as the environment on surface is so polluted one can not breath there. We are totally disconnected from internet or anything because firstly, the signal can not reach deep down here and secondly, the overuse of social media and overwhelming amount of data did make people go made in the past, so we have abandoned all sort of social media and internet here. The oceans are not flowing anymore as they have become a semi-solid streams due to almost equal amount of plastic waste we dumped in them as water. There is no marine life remaining nor any wild life. We see animals only in pictures which we could bring in these bunkers. Similar bunkers are dug around the world at many places and our work now is to dig horizontal tunnels so we can commute to or meet people in other bunkers. We have learnt to farm a little here, though not tasty but it satisfies our requirement. Currency trade is abandoned as we feel money did spoil minds of many of us in the past. We are living on barter system or have learn to become self sufficient. So instead of going towards scientific advancements or anything we are almost living in caves, without currencies, surviving upon bare minimum and trying to reach people in other parts of world by merely digging tunnels.

I beg your pardon for the sad version, I don’t want to scare you but I think its better to be scared then to be sorry. Because this can surely be our future (if there will be one) provided the way we are spoiling our present. And if my version of future can make even a single person think about the things or can impact life of even a single person towards making out surrounding or earth future proof, my effort of writing this will be worthy.

Everything on this earth was progressing, growing, going towards a good future till human being came into existence and since we have come we have only thought about ourselves, we have only spoilt things, we have only disturbed the equilibrium if not broke it.

And it’s high time now that we stop. Take a break and think about what we have done.

If we don’t do that, there won’t be a future to think about…
